To the Friends of
Jon Christian Ryter:

As you can see, after much pondering, for the first time ever I have loaned my name to an advocacy group that is working to restore the rights of the American people. Over the last five or ten years, scores of people who have read my writings dealing with the efforts of the princes of industry and the barons of banking and business to very subtlely erase the righrts of the American people have asked me: "How do I stop this? How do I change what's happening?" Here's how.

Most politically observant Americans know that last December, on a 3 to 2 party-line vote, the Federal Communications Commission gave itself the authority to take over the Internet. But what only a few of those politically-observant Americans knew was, as it was giving itself the authority to regulate the Internet, the FCC held secret meetings with the major Internet Providers [IP] where it strong-armed them into self-imposing Fairness Doctrine ("net neutrality") guidelines on themselves, or face FCC-imposed net neutrality regulations.

Web-hosting companies are now being leveraged to suspend both Christian and politically-conservative websites by classifying them as "hate sites." As a result, according to a Sept. 15, 2011 article in the Washington Times, Internet media giants are not giving Christian and other faith-based groups a fair shake. This was the conclusion of a report issued by the National Religious Broadcasters. The report said that many of the biggest new Internet sites block Christian content, and they regularly refuse to take faith-based ads-in particular ads taking a stand against homosexuality or radical Islam. They claim these websites often "offend" other users. The FCC fails to consider that the only way those who claim to be "offended" can be "offended" is by making a conscious effort to go to that website.

Please CLICK HERE to FAX every Member of U.S. Congress. Urge them to relaunch the 2005 House of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act as the House of Worship and Internet Free Speech Restoration Act of 2011. Congress needs to restore "pulpit freedom" to America's Christian community by rescinding the 1954 IRS gag order that revokes the tax-exempt status of churches and other non-profits who endorse or oppose candidates for public office. Congress also needs to protect free speech in general by barring Internet Providers from rescinding 1st Amendment free speech rights on the Internet because the "party in power" disagrees with the political or theological views of the individuals or organizations whose websites are being threatened.

In 1954 when he was running for re-election for the U.S. Senate, Lyndon B. Johnson was aggressively opposed by two anti-communist non-profits who were attacking Johnson's socialist agenda. To silence them, Sen. Johnson inserted language into the IRS code that prohibited non-profits, including churches, from endorsing or opposing candidates for political office. Johnson used his office and the IRS to silence his opposition.

This was never a separation of church-and-state issue. This was a personal issue by a politician to keep those opposing any corrupt politician from being able to speak in the public forum against them.

On Jan. 4, 2005 Congressman Walter Jones [R-NC] proposed HR 235, the House of Worship Free Speech Restoration Act to undo Johnson's vindictive Christian gag order because [a] it was unconstitutional, and [b] because it was a rule created by Johnson for his personal use. Organizations like the American Civil Liberties Union, Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and People For the American Way campaigned against HR 235, arguing its repeal would violate the separation of church and state. The bill was defeated.

The United States of America was conceived in the pulpits of the churches in the American colonies. Before and after the birth of the United States, America's pastors freely spoke out on the political or moral issues of the day. It was not only a protected right under the Constitution of the United States; it was their moral duty as the shepherds of their flocks. Today, more than ever, we need to hear the sane voices of the nations' pastors in this insane world and, we need to hear and read constitutionally-protected free speech on the Internet which, today, is being abrogated by the fabricators of political correctness because those who oppose the views of the political right dislike what we have to say.

The Washington Times reported on Sept. 15 that, of all of the Internet "new-media" platforms and service providers today, only Twitter does not exhibit an anti-Christian bias. The article quoted Craig Parshall, senior VP and general counsel of National Religious Broadcasters who said: "Our concern is not just anti-Christian censorship, although we [have] examples that seem to indicate that's a particular concern. The current paradigm that we are seeing with censorship seems to be oriented towards people of faith and ideas that are religious-based."

One example cited by Parshall concerned Exodus International, a Christian ministry that works with "...individuals and families impacted by homosexuality," according to the Exodus website. In March of this year, Apple removed the app for Exodus International. Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr told FoxNews.com that the app had "...indeed been deemed offensive and removed... [and] it violates the developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people." The Washington Times noted that "...Apple officials acted only after a gay rights group organized a petition protesting the app that attracted 146,000 signatures." The NRB report noted that "...Apple's policies were dangerously overboard and vague...and are, in some instances, viewpoint-censorious on the subject of religion."

Here's the reality: We can't let Congress look the other way as the FCC takes over the Internet the way Congress looked the other way when Lyndon Johnson used the IRS to gag those who opposed his re-election.

Among the things the left is doing to silence the right when "Christian affronts" do not rise to a legal level which justifies an IP or web-hosting company from removing their website, PayPal is now being pressured to cancel the money-transfer rights of "offensive" websites. PayPal's compliance department has both threatened and rescinded money transfer rights to conservative and Christian websites when leftwing groups complain. Christian activist Julio Severo, who posts writings on his one-man "Last Days Watchman," became the victim of a heterophobic letter campaign to PayPal to shut down Severo's website because of his views on homosexuality.

Severo received a letter from PayPal advising him that his website was under investigation, adding that "...because of legal and regulatory constraints, PayPal was unable to process donation payments for non-registered charities and non-profit organizations, political party/organizations, religious institutions; personal/organizational fundraisers, etc..." The letter continued, "This is not a decision we made lightly, and we deeply regret an inconvenience or frustration this matter may cause you. Your remaining account balance will be held for 180 days from the date your account was [suspended]. After 180 days, you will be notified by email how to receive your remaining funds."

"Last Days Watchman" is not a non-profit. Nor is it a religious organization or institution, nor a personal or political fundraising group. "Last Days" is a Christian individual with a wife and four children who uses the funds donated to his blog to support his family. PayPal told WorldNet Daily that the company "...will crack down on anyone it decides has incited hatred, violence or intolerance because of a person's sexual orientation"...while they continue to recognize the rights of free speech.

WorldNetDaily reported that a group of websites is being targeted by groups like www.AllOut.org that stir up intolerance of Christians. WND reported that AllOut.org is demanding that PayPal stop allowing them access to PayPal's services. The group includes:

  • Abiding Truth Ministries
  • American Society for the Defense of Traditional Family
  • Dove World Outreach
  • Faith Word Baptist Church
  • Family Research Institute
  • New Generation Ministries
  • Truth in Action Ministries (which has never used PayPal)
  • In addition to Christian faith websites and blogs, there is popular political activist Pam Geller who blogs as Atlas Shrugs. Geller's website is purely political. What has she done to tick off the left? Geller has been involved in the founding of the "Freedom Defense Initiative" and "Stop Islamization of America." She ticked off the White House. Geller received a letter from PayPal which said PayPal does not allow its name to be associated with websites that "...promote hate, violence, racial intolerance or the financial exploitation of a crime." Geller was required to remove PayPal as an option from her websites, as well as any reference to the company, and its shopping cart features. Shortly after complying, Geller received a call from PayPal saying their letter was sent "in error," and that PayPal financial services were restored.

Here is the reality. The FCC's strong-arm tactics, threatening to reclassify the Internet as a public utility-which they could then legally regulate, has accomplished what the FCC could not legally do without the consent of Congress-intimidate the nation's largest IPs and web-hosting service providers into self-regulating a Fairness Doctrine (net neutrality) more severe, and much more unconstitutional than anything the federal government could do and not have their regulations thrown out by the federal judiciary. Three federal courts, to date, have already told the FCC that, until Congress gives it to them, they have no authority to regulate the Internet and interfere with the free speech rights of those using it.

According to Russia's top religious leader, Patriarch Kirill I, the United States government (which controls the global World Wide Web) ordered the web designation ".cc" (at one time thought to be the next ".com") discontinued, effectively shutting down 11 million websites-most of them used in Islamic nations around the world. Because they could not use Islamic state-owned IPs in the Muslim world, Christian websites opted for .cc domain which was viewed, in the Muslim world, as an abbreviation for "Christian Church" or "Coptic Christians."

If you recall, a few weeks before Google blacklisted close to 11 million .cc URLs in June, the FCC announced it was investigating the search engine giant. On the same day the FCC suspended its investigation of Google, Google announced it had blacklisted close to 11 million URLs which, they said, had been registered for free through the .cc subdomain across the world. Google claimed the right to pull the plug on freehost servers. Instantly, they ceased to exist. Why did that happen? Because, according to Patriarch Kirill, it was a fundamental shift undertaken by the Obama Administration to support radical Muslim elements around the world instead of the secular Arab leaders the United States once did.

If you will recall, immediately following the disappearance of Muslim world Christian web domains, Reuters announced that Obama was beginning formal talks with the Muslim Brotherhood-a group, in its own words, dedicated to "...eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within and sabotaging its miserable house."

While America failed to notice the disappearance of 11 million Coptic Christian websites in the emerging nations, the destruction of them in the Muslim world poses a grave danger to the United States since there is now nothing left for Christians in that part of the world to grasp. Their children will now be more easily indoctrinated as converts to Islam.

What lies in store for America's Christians when the Obama FCC is able to intimidate the largest IPs in the world? There is a horrific future awaiting us on the information superhighway according to the White House since, just before his election as President, Obama said "...it's not surprising [that] when [American conservatives] get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them, or anti-immigrant sentiment, or anti-trade sentiment, as a way to explain their frustrations."

Forgotten by the far left is that those Americans who "cling to their guns and religion" are the same caliber of people who created this nation and made it great. If they have a weakness today it is that they don't speak out loud enough and often enough. When free speech dies on the Internet, free speech will die-just like 11 million .cc voices that vanished in the blink of an eye earlier this year. You can't wait. You can't expect someone else to stand up and speak for you. You must stand up for yourself. And, you must stand up NOW! Just below is a button. You are one CLICK away from speaking out to defend your own right to free speech. Fax your Congressman today. Please FAX right now while you still have an Internet to speak through.

I respectfully look forward to your email!

    Sincerely,

    Jon Christian Ryter
